• Parish councillors are resisting plans to develop a truckstop alongside a pub at Bedale, North Yorkshire.
The site, just off the Al, will provide parking for 300 lorries, a 120-seater restaurant, and overnight accommodation for 30 drivers. However, Hambleton Council's planning committee is being urged to reject the scheme by the chief planning officer.
If the scheme is approved, the truckstop could be open by the end of the year.
