• The new 16.5m maximum length for articulated vehicles will now come into force on 19 March. Roads and Traffic Minister Robert Atkins says: "I regret the slight delay in implementing this new legislation, but I hope that hauliers and manufacturers will excuse this in recognition of the much more comprehensive document which has resulted.
"It was clear that some clarification in respect of lowloaders and car transporters was necessary."
