the M40 and M42 in the outside fast lanes (CM 11-17 January) have been rejected by Roads and Traffic Minister Robert Atkins. In a Parliamentary written answer he said: "The present layout allows traffic at different speeds to adjust and merge. It is operating satisfactorily and safely with present traffic flows."
