BIG NAMES AT FMC '90
• Television presenter Michael Rodd will chair this year's Fleet Management Conference at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel on 6 April.
This year the Commercial Motor conference will concentrate on the theme The Profitable Truck with top speakers from the British and international trucking industry.
Alan Parker, TNT's fleet engineer, will talk on the latest systems for controlling truck operations; Shell Oil UK's operations training manager John Jordan will spell out the financial benefits of defensive driving techniques; and IRTE chairman David Rimmer will consider how to acquire the best truck for your needs.

TALKING TRANSPORT • A conference called "Fotal Logistics will be held on 21-22 March at the Gatwick Penta Hotel, near Gatwick Airport.
It will be hosted by HR Industrial, and will cover transport management themes including forecasting, information technology and internal restructuring, among other transport management themes.
It will cost £550 ex-VAT, including conference papers, lunch and refreshments.
IIR is also holding two oneday conferences on warehousing. Central Warehousing will be the topic on 3 April in London and on 25 April in Birmingham; Automated Warehousing will be discussed on 4 April at London and on 26 April at Birmingham.
Each conference costs £295 ex-VAT, including documentation, lunch and refreshments.
