• Six former drivers from GM Buses' Ashton-under-Lyne depot have started a new company in the Manchester area, called Pennine Blue.
It has seven single-deck Bristol RE saloons (most nearly 20-years-old) and three double-deckers, which are used mainly for PSV tuition.
A route is operated hourly from Ilaughton Green to Micklelmrst, with buses crossing over at Ashton bus station, but the company plans to expand, either by increasing the route's frequency or by introducing a new service.
It is also pursuing contract work from the Greater Manchester PTE, says chairman Brian Corbett.
