• Peter Colby (Commercials) is planning to launch a freightonly ferry service to Portugal following the collapse of the loss-making Vasco Line last September.
The Norwich-based company, which has teamed up with a Portuguese partner, Sadomaritima, is currently looking for a suitable vessel with a 60 to 70-trailer capacity.
The weekly service will operate under the name PUK Ferries, and will depart from Viana Do Castel() at noon on Saturdays, arriving at Southampton on Monday mornings.
Vasco Line, a subsidiary of Seacon Holdings, tried to negotiate a deal with Sadomaritima, but the two parties could not reach an agreement.

ry work for the past 10 years, sold a service from Felixstowe to Scandinavia five years ago.
It also owns some truck and trailer hire companies and an Iveco Ford dealership.
