• Sales of trucks above 3.5 tonnes in Western Europe reached a record of 324,000 last year. This compares with 316,000 in the previous record year of 1979, and 220,000 in 1982. Only Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway experienced a drop in truck sales last year.
E UK Commercial vehicle production fell by 22.5% to 21,859 in January, compared with the same month last year, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Export production rose by 3% from 7,240 to 7,029,
