• The United States Marines has awarded Amersham-based TT Boughton & Sons an 28 million contract to supply a specially-developed multipurpose container handling system.
Under the contract, Boughton will provide 100 systems, each capable of picking up, carrying and offloading ISO containers, bridge sections and combat support boats. The US Marines has an option to buy a further 220, worth almost £17 million.
The system is mounted on a Marine Corps Mk14 trailer, built by Boughton's sister company in the US, AAI Corporation, of Hunt Valley, Maryland.
