Ml Martin Crockett, of Scantruck West, Colnbrook iFeltham, Middlesex}, is Scania GB's Technician of the Year 1990. Richard Haw, of Union Trucks, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, is Trainee of the Year. Each receives 1150, a trophy, and wins a trip to Sweden.
From Scania's 42-strong work shop network in the UK, 29 technicians and 12 trainees were nominated for awards, and assessed by Milton Keynes training staff Les Rooney, Arthur Hoyles. Kevin Reed and Mike Wilkinson. For the 1990 awards, the word apprentice was replaced — in line with current trends", says the company — by trainee.
In the technicians category, other winners were: 2. Paul Faramus, Westrucks, Bristol; 3. Michael Nash, M&K Commercials. Norwich; 4. Wayne Arnold, Scanlink, Grimsby; 5, Brian Tait, Reliable Vehicles, Aberdeen.
The runner up among trainees was David Lewis, West Pennine Trucks, Middleton, Manchester; and 3, David Ferguson, Scantruck West, Colnbrook (Bedfont, Middlesex); 4, Stephen Sleet, Derek Jones Commercials, Kettering (Thrapston, Northants).
