IVECO UK has expanded its tractive unit range with the introduction of a 25-tonne GCW model, the 135.17T.
This is derived from the existing 13.3-tonne GVW 135.17 rigid model but has a more powerful engine and 12speed splitter Z.F gearbox in place of the rigid model's standard six speed ZF unit.
The 135.17T's 5,861cc engine, designated 80611.25. is a turbocharged version of the latest Iveco 7.5-tonner six cylinder engine, the 8060.05.
Compared with the X060.24 engine it supersedes, bore and stroke have both been increased slightly to take the swept volume from 5.5 to 5.86 litres.
Maximum power and torque have gone up respectively to 131kw (1 7 Ohp) at 2,70Orpin and 540Nin (398 Ibit) at 1.60Orpm, both measured according to the EEC 80/1269 standard. A similarly revised engine is to be introduced later for the rigid 13 The 135.171 is Iveco UK's first purpose-built 25-tonne tractive unit. Hitherto the I79kW (24(lhp) 32-tonner, the 165.24, was downplated for operators who ran at the lower weight.
This option will continue to he available, but the lower price and kerb weight of the 135.17T is expected to have greater appeal. lveco is aiming for annual sales of around 5)) a year.
The 135.17T is available with a single bunk sleeper or day cab, both with a wheelbase of 3.2m. Kerb weight, with full 200 litre fuel tank but no fifth wheel installation, is calculated at 4,125kg.
This is the first Iveco tractive unit to be fitted as standard with low profile tyres: Michelin 285/70R 19.5. Front axle design weight is 4,400kg (3,8)$0kg in Britain) while the rear axle design and UK weight is 9,200kg.
Standard ratio for the Rockwell single reduction rear axle is 4.88:1 which gives a maximum geared speed of 1119km/h (68mph). Optional ratios of 5.13 and 5.28:1 are offered.
• Iveco UK's vehicle-offroad (VOR) emergency parts service has extended its last order deadline for next-day delivery from 3pm to Opm. horn March 1, its latest VOR despatch time also moves to 7pm with delivery at any Iveco dealer by 10.30am the following day.
The new VOR cut-off point is part of Iveco UK's revised after-sales programme for 1986.
All 48 Iveco main truck dealers are now directly linked to the company's Parts Division at Winsford by computer operating within Iveco's Computer Actioned Re-order and Inquiry System (Cares) which provides rapid data on spares availability.
