AN EDINBURGH accountant and a leading trades unionist have been given board appointment's on Lothian Regional Council's new public transport company.

The accountant, 57-year-old John Spence, gets the i.10,000-a-year post of chairman of the new company. Alex Kitson, who retires soon as deputy general secretary of the Transport and General Workers Union, is made a non-executive director.

Kitson, who is a former chairman of the Labour Party and has long associations with Edinburgh, was mm mated by the minority Labour group on the council.

Executive directors include Lothian's director of public

transport, Charles Evans, mld general manager Neil Mackenzie. A finance director has still to be appointed.
