BRITISH RAIL and National Carriers are taking a joint look at the future operation of the Rail Express Parcels contract which involves 2300 vehicles throughout the country.
In view of British Rail's cash shortages, efforts are being made to save money, and there is a strong possibility that fewer vehicles will be used on the contract in the near future.
NC has long regarded the BR contract as the springboard from which its Contract Services business has grown, and any loss of BR business may well be absorbed by a growth of outside contracts. ,
