IERTZ plans to launch its new venture into lorry rental in the aiddle of this year, and aims to be brand leader by 1986.

Marketing manager for he new operation, Mike .1bra, told CM that Hertz is :urrently carrying out an exensive research programme nto lorry rental in the United Cingdom and Europe and is ilso looking at "other areas of tusiness related to commer:lel vehicles," but would not !laborate further at this stage. The operation will include pot-hire and contract hire of rehicles ranging from vans to :2-ton tractive units and efrigerated vehicles. Both Mike Libra and director of Hertz European operations, Angelo Salmasi, joined Hertz at the end of last year from rival Avis, bringing with them a wealth of truck rental experience.
