I NJ YLIALLy designed for bulk wholesale traffic, new " sideloader " semi-trailers orierated by Robertson and Woodcock Ltd., maker of Trcbor confectionery, have proved equally suitable for delivering Small mixed loads to retail shops.

As seen in the photographs above, the Bonallack-built bodies have sides composed entirely of sliding doors and employ a full-width roller shutter at the rear; light-alloy plates in the floor conceal a full-length roller conveyor when this is not in use for moving heavy packages or palleted goods. The double-skinned light-alloy bodies have a capacity of 1,114 cu. ft. and arc 24 ft, long. 6 ft. 10-', in. wide and 6 ft. 9 in: high. A 21-ft, by 3-ft translucent panel is incorporated in the roof. Hand-truck, ladder and spare wheel are carried in lockers behind the skirt.

The semi-trailers have Scammell 11-ton. 25-ft. chassis and are hauled by Bedford KGA 12-ton tractive units. Eight of these boxvan. semis are operated as part of the company's drive to keep consumer prices down despite the recent purchase tax imposition on confectionery.
