D UBBOLITE lamps to meet the require' ments of the new regulations for long vehicles and trailers have been introduced by Flexible Lamps Ltd., Rubbolite House, Centre Drive, Epping, Essex.

The regulations come into force on July 24, 1963, and stipulate that side marker lamps shall be carried on all trailers over 30 ft. long, on all combinations of two or more vehicles over 40 ft. long and on allvehicles or combinations over 60 ft. long, and that front corner lamps shall be carried on all trailers which do not form part of a combination on which side marker lamps are required. These are, briefly, the basic requirements of The Road Vehicles Lighting (Long Vehicles and Trailers) Regulations, 1962.

The new lamps follow the usual Rubbolite pattern, having moulded-rubber bases into which the bulb holders and plastics blister lenses clip. Two designs of base are made; one having lugs for mounting on a vertical surface. and the 3ther having a rubber bracket formed in it for mounting on a horizontal surface. When sold as a side marker lamp, half the lens is red and the other half is clear frosted. A version with all-clear frosted lens can be supplied when the lamp is to be used as a front corner lamp.

The lenses are oval, measuring 15 in. from front to rear and 3 in. from top to bottom, and the overall depth to the outside of the blister lens is 3.5 in.

A smaller lamp designed specifically to meet the requirements for front corner lamps is expected to be available later this month.
