Mr. John Hay, M.P., Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, has appointed Mr. G. S. Riddle to be his private secretary in succession to Mr. D.; Holmes.
Mr. D. A, Shepard, a director and executive vice-president of Standard Oil Company (New Jersey), parent company of the Esso organization, is to make his office in London. This is the first time that an executive vice-president of the group has been based in London.
Mr. J. L Bacon, formerly in charge of publicity and public relations, becomes sales manager (U.K. Automotive) of the Wayne Tank and Pump Co. Ltd., in succession to Mr. D. Arden who takes up the new appointment of manager (Special Contracts) with responsibility for national sales.
The Hon. Arthur Maxwell L. Stamp has been appointed a director of Triplex Holdings Ltd., parent company of the Triplex Safety Glass Co. Ltd., of London, Birmingham and Eccleston (St. Helens).
Mr. James Barrie has been appointed assistant general secretary of the Scottish Horse and Motormen's Association, which represents more than 20,000 drivers of commercial vehicles in Scotland. He has been a full-time official for the past six years and is at present an area organizer.
Mr. S. G. Sloan has been appointed group executive assistant to the chairman, Mr. G. E. Liardet, of the Simms Motor and Electronics Corporation Ltd. Until recently, Mr. Sloan was general manager of Rubery Owen and Co. Ltd.
Mr. 3. D. Slitter, commercial director of A.E.C. Ltd., has been appointed deputy to Mr. D. G. Stokes, sales director of the newly created Leyland Motor Corporation, and Mr. B. C. Baker, sales secretary of Leyland Motors Ltd., becomes sales commercial manager of the Corporation. Mr. Slater will retain his position as a director of A.E.C. Ltd. and several of its associated and subsidiary companies at home and overseas. Directors of the Corporation are Sir Henry Spurrier, chairman, Mr. Sydney Baybutt, Sir William Black, Lord Brain. zon of Tara, Mr. Stanley Markland, Mr. Stokes and Mr. Walter West.
Mr. Monty Prichard, managing director of F. Perkins Ltd., is back home again after being taken ill and undergoing hospital treatment while on a business trip to Canada. He will convalesce for a few weeks before he returns to business.
