Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Elderslie, formed to handle' part of the Rootes Group traffic, was successful on Tuesday at Glasgow in an A licence application for 12 tractors and 12 drawbar trailers.

Rootes had appointed-the-new Company to take cars from the Compound at Linwood. From the compound Scotfreight would organize the outward dis-• tribution of home cars and would also be available for some export work.

Most of the objectors withdrew, but Mr. R. Mackenzie, for Alexander Scott (Contractors) Lid. and W. H. Malcolm Ltd., suggested a B licence would be more appropriate. Mr. Ewing, nianagirig director of Scotfreight, admitted that in Birmingham restrictions existed whereby Birmingham-produced cars should be hauled only by Birmingham-located hauliers. That would apply in his company's ease by the formation of a Scottish company. He also agreed that returning transporters would bring Rootes vehicles from the south to Scotland.

Mr. W. F. Quin, the Scottish Licensing Authority, granted the application, saying that nothing must prevent the flow or vehicles from the Linwood factory.
