" QUR attitude has been broadened by our comparisons between what goes on in Britain and what goes on in other countries, and if some of the procedure in these countries seems in any way preferable to our own, we shall not hesitate to say so ", said Mr. F. Wheeler. chairman of the R.H.A. Metropolitan and South Eastern area, on Wednesday when referring to the knowledge of Continental licensing systems gained during the preparations for possible, entry into the E.F.C. Mr. Wheeler was speaking at
the annual dinner of the Medway Towns sub-area in Gillingham.
Saying that during the Brussels negotiations Toad haulage industry representatives in Britain had given very active consideration to the demands likely to he made upon them, Mr. Wheeler stressed that the work had not been wasted; many contacts had been made with road haulr age representatives on the Continent and a great deallearned about licensing systems across the Channel.
