INTER-AVAILABILITY of booking 1 offices is the subject of appeals by 46 Manchester district coach operators, which are due for hearing; on Thursday next, at Manchester. Prior to a decision of the North-Western Traffic Commissioners, last summer, it was the custom, where two or more -operators within a certain 'specified area had not a full load for a particular destination (notably Blackpool), for one operator's vehicle to pick up passengers firma the other points.
This scheme was at its height in 1930-31, the basic year for Appeal Order No. 9, so that the number of journeys was at a minimum. It is now felt that the running with light loads, which, in earlier years. would have been consolidated, will, owing to the restriction of the number of journeys, cause the curtailment of activities in the busier part of the season, especially in connection with the Blackpool illuminations in the autumn.
