Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

'VCR many years tipping gears made by Bromilow and _12 Edwards, Ltd., of Foundry Street, Bolton, Lanes, have been well known in the industry. The concern in question has just introduced a new set which combines its popular hydraulic system with a simple form of hand operation.

This tipping gear, together with a special body—also a Bromilow and Edwards product—is handled by Messrs. Hamilton Motors, of 466-490, Edgware Road, London, W.2, in respect of vehicles made by General Motors, Ltd. This concession was arranged in conjunction with Mr. C. B. Wardman; sales to the public of Bedford and Chevrolet chassis equipped with these gears and bodies are effected solely through the authorized agents for the makes in question. The special reciprocating-pump unit is carried by an angle-section bearer across the chassis frame; this bearer Is one of two which, together, form one of the lead-carrying cross-members. At the rear is a similar _member.

Across the frame lie the dual supports for the tilting ram which lifts the body. One of the features of this ram is that it can easily raise its burden irrespective of the frame distortion.

Through the casing of the pump unit passes a cross-shaft which allows the handle to be used at either end. Roughly, 100 revolutions of the handle give the full extension of the ram; the effort required is small, and we understand that the body can be fully tipped in a little over,30 seconds. A partial turn of the release valve allows the oil to flow back into the pump, so that the body falls rapidly and without labour.

As regards the body, this is of sound construction, and the swinging tailboard and sides are secured with cam-action hooks, which not only pull inwards the hinged portions, but prevent them becoming unfastened, due to vibration. The tailboard is hinged at the top, but can rapidly be detached when required. The hinges for the sides allow them to fall to the horizontal level 'but not beyond ; this enables the load to be shot clear of the wheels When tipping sideways, At a slight extra charge the sides and tailboard can be armoured; the floor is thus treated in the standard product, The body and gear together, as supplied for the Chevrolet, weigh 111 cwt.

For the Chevrolet 30-cwt. chassis, the tipping body and mechanism cost PIZ, whilst the similar combination for the Bedford 2-ton chassis costs £47. If it be desired to provide only end-tipping, the price in each case is reduced by ;€5.
