• Bedwas has modified its PV400 integral parcel van bodywork for use as a prison van. The vehicle, which was first shown at the National Police Vehicle Fleet Managers Conference early in May, is based on a long-wheelbase Ford Transit 190 chassis-cowl.
Known as the Challenger, the newcomer from Bedwas is said to be significant because it accommodates six prisoners to be carried securely, with only the driver and one extra officer in attendance. • Foers Ibex 4x4 is a four-wheel-drive vehicle designed for off-road commercial use. Based on Land Rover 90 components, it has a galvanised steel frame and aluminium alloy bodywork, and can be supplied as a complete vehicle from 211,000 (ex-VAT) or in kit form.
