• Abbeyways of Halifax has sold its bus contract routes and goodwill to Yorkshire Rider to concentrate on its traditional coaching activities. No buses were handed over in the deal — all of Abbeyways' full-size buses were on hire from Hyndburn Transport. Abbeyways has retained a few minibuses.
Yorkshire Rider will maintain existing services until the end of this month, when the commercial services of both companies will be consolidated and new registrations will take effect on tendered routes. Some contracts will be re-assigned to Yorkshire Woolen and Yorkshire Traction.
U-line Uxbridge
• London Buses has launched four minibus 'U-Line' routes in the Uxbridge area. The high-frequency services will use 28-seater Mercedes-Benz midibuses with split steps, wide doors and high-visibility handrails.
