TALKS continue next week to try to avert strike action by Lex Wilkinson's workforce, following the parcels company's demand that their wage and salary review is frozen until next year.

Ihe workforce voted to take strike action after Lex Wilkinson managing director Colin Millbanks told them that, to preserve jobs, there could be no wage or salary increase this year. Lex wants this postponed until February 1 next year, with a commitment to an increase then, for the current Nightline bonus scheme and radio payments to be discontinued this year, and for free beverages to be withdrawn.

In addition, it plans to pay a lump sum share of any profits achieved this year, and for a new wage structure to he agreed for new contracts won by Systemline.
