Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE SCOTTISH road haulage industry will not benefit from the iAin handout that the Government is giving to commercial ratepayers because of the effect of revaluation.

Scottish Secretary George Younger has decided that freight transport and haulage, along with the manufacturing industry, should be exempt from the revaluation package which will mean taxpayers meeting the full impact of die rate increases on commercial businesses, where revaluation has increased more than three times.

However, the freight industry is to be excluded because of the impact of industry dcrating, which itself has been cut from 50 per cent to 40 per cent this year.

Road Haulage Association Scottish manager Tom Brattin is still investigating the implications of this ruling.
