LORD DONNET of Bal gay, Scottish Transpol Group chairman from 1978 t 1980, has died aged 68.
As Alex Donnet, he w.z chairman of the General an Municipal Workers' Unio from 1970 to 1976, and was strong supporter of the Wi: son Government's soci contract with the trade unions.
He began working life i Dundee, his home town, an apprentice typewrite mechanic and spent man years working with th GIVIWU, and became it Scottish secretary in 1959.
Elevation to a life peeraE in 1978 followed the Labol Government's appointment him as chairman of STG, ti Scottish Bus Group and fert and haulage group.
