• Because of the number of magistrate: convictions recorded against Ralph Hilto Transport Services Ltd, of Gateshead, th Northern LA, Mr J. A. T. Hanlon, was no prepared to grant the company the tota number of unacquired vehicles and trailer applied for. When the company appeared a a public inquiry in Newcastle on Tuesda Mr Hanlon was told that the company wa seeking a renewal of its licence to authorizi 37 vehicles and 38 trailers with a margin o 20 vehicles and 20 trailers to be taken up.
However, after hearing that over the las five years Ralph Hilton Transport Service!
Ltd, had been convicted on a number o: occasions for offences which includee overloading and defective tyres the LA decided to grant the company a margin ol only five vehicles and five trailers plus the specified vehicles and trailers.
Mr Hanlon commented during the hearing that he expected that the company would fulfil its undertaking to supply him with a list of company directors and the name and addresses of any subsidiary firms.
