THE bus industry have now asked the Minister of Transport, as the Minister who is concerned with the welfare of that industry, to intervene with the Chancellor of the Exchequer on their behalf about fuel tax. This was made known on Tuesday by Mr. Raymond W. Birch, chairman of Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co., Ltd., in his annual report.
"One is driven to the conclusion that the Treasury are not in the slightest bit concerned with what happens to rural bus services or, indeed, any other public passenger road transport," said Mr. Birch.
