From a Spec:al Correspondent THE Council of the European I Economic Community, having last Friday received from the Common Market Commission its draft common transport policy, is to meet in Brussels on June 14 to begin detailed work on the draft. I understand that, already, differ:lig opinions are being made known on the draft.
Most of the 'measures recommended in the draft will, I am told, date from late 1963 or 1964, if they are adopted. For example, it is proposed that the "forked tariffs" (published minimum and maximum rates, within which operators will have charging freedom) should come into effect from July 1, 1964. Co-ordination of weights and dimensions is proposed for adoption late in 1963.
