Three new directors—Mr. T. L Hill, Mr. J. Thorpe and Mr. L. D. Watts— have been appointed to the board of Scammell Lorries, Ltd.
Ald. S. Hill, a member of the executive council of the Municipal Passenger Transport Association, has been installed as Lord Mayor of Nottingham. He is a former Sheriff of Nottingham.
Mr. B. A. Gay has been appointed general sales manager, Replacement Tyre Division, of Dunlop and becomes responsible for the sales of all tyres in the U.K. through the garage and distributive trades. Mr. G. H. Way has been appointed to the new Dunlop post of controller of distribution and the position of sales manager for Dunlop's midland region vacated by Mr. Way will be filled by Mr. B. S. C. Gurney-RandalL In general staff reorganization Mr. H. Carleton has been appointed manager of the • Manchester office of Taskers of Andover (1932), Ltd., in succession to Mr. C. Luff, who has become manager of the south-western area. Mr. Carleton was previously representative for Lancashire and the North-West. Mr. G. H. Durham has joined the company as sales representative for the West Riding of Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Mr. B. R. Pattison, superintendent at the Retford depot of East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., since 1928, was elected mayor of Retford on May 24.
Mr. J. R. Quinn is sales director of the recently formed company, Primrose Axles (London) Sales, Ltd., of 77 Oakwood Crescent, Greenford, Middlesex, which will function as the sales and service office for Primrose commercial vehicle assemblies in the south of England.
Brown Brothers, Ltd., announce the following changes in branch managemerit: Mr. F. A. Lines has been appointed district manager of Bristol and Gloucester in succession to Mr. W. L. Rutter, who has retired. Mr. Lines was previously assistant manager at Birmingham. Mr. G. L. C. Wooster has been appointed manager of Essex Specialised Services, Leigh-on-Sea.
Obituary
AVE regret to record the death of Mr. IT Philip Turner.
Mr. Turner was service adviser to the Leyland Group sales and service director, Mr. D. G. Stokes. Mr Turner was appointed to this post only two months ago, having been service manager since 1939.
