Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

/-1 A SAVING of 20-25 per cent, in

weight, space and cost is claimed for a new range of high-performance cells announced by Nife Batteries, Redditch, Worcs.

The use of a larger number of thinner plates has increased the effective plate area for a given size of battery and the internal resistance is reduced.

Improved methods of perforating the steel-pocket ribbon give a 10-per-cent. increase in perforated area and a corresponding improvement in performance. Modifications to the methods of interlacing the pocket strips and improved active materials give better conductivity of the plate section.

The cell crates have been redesigned and the use of nylon suspension insulators have, it is claimed, resulted in greater mechanical strength and resistance to wear.

These new batteries are available in a range of 15 sizes from 60 amp. hr. to 315 amp. hr.
