Firestone in Philippines: The Firestone organization plan to build a 55.3m. tyre factory near Manila, in the Philippines. Annual output will be 100,000 tyres. A rubber plantation will also be established.

B.T.C. Depot Plans: Plans of the British Transport Commission to establish a road service depot at Darlington are under consideration, and a scheme to enlarge the depot at Queens Road, Sheffield, is in hand.

Start Pilot Approved: Rolls-Royce, Ltd., have approved the Start Pilot device, made by Start Pilot, Ltd., 2 Caxton Street, London. S.W.1, as optional equipment for their oil engines for use at low temperatures.

Reflector Tape: Flexlite reflector tape, which may be placed on vehicles, driveway obstacles or the backs of driving gloves, is being sold by Tudor Accessories, Ltd., Beaconsfield Road, Hayes, Middx., in strips 1 ft. long by 1 in. wide at 2s. 6d. each. It is available in red and silver.

Esso Hydrofonner: A £4m. hydroformer, said to be the first built at a British refinery, is now in operation at the Esso plant at Fawley. The unit produces highquality petrol and will enable the output of the catalytic cracking unit to be adjusted to release more oil fuel to meet growing demands. Only five other plants of this kind exist,

New Du Pont Laboratory: The Du Pont company have opened a new Elm. elastomers laboratory in America to provide a technical service on neoprene and Hypalon synthetic rubber. This will be available to British motor and accessory manufacturers through Durham Raw Materials, Ltd., 1-4 Great Tower St., London, E.C.3.
