A N unofficial strike, which threatened

to paralyse the nationalized road ransport system of the country, was 'tanned to take effect as from midnight on Sunday last.

The men's early response to the ailing-out notice of the unofficial strike ommittee was somewhat half-hearted, out by Tuesday. morning 229 depots, nvolving 11,635 men, had ceased to unction. "The Commercial Motor" undertands that the proposal has been mder discussion for the past 10 months nd that the men, through their union, taw been given the opportunity to cice any grievances they may have .gainst the proposal.

The R.H.E. has made it dear that it annot withdraw its patrol scheme, at he same time pointing out that there s no intention of using such road oatrols for repressive or snooping I urposes.

WORLD PRODUCTION the first quarter of the year, British production of motor vehicles fell by .5 per cent. as compared with the last !curter of 1950.
