Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

is now La uppermost in the minds of all vehicle operators. To achieve the maximum number of miles per gallon is the aim of every transport manager. Cases of remarkable savings, the biggest amounting to as much as 36.8 per cent. with a certain 5-tonner, are outlined in a publication recently issued by the Wayne V. Myers Co., Ltd., 57-58 and I, Dol ben Street, London, S.E.1, maker of a preparation named Redex, by which the economies have been effected.

Redex seems to be a sort of panacea, and the evidence submitted for its efficiency is certainly convincing. For example, in the booklet is a reproduction of a performance graph from our associated journal The Oil Engine, which shows a rise in torque from 1,8751.925 lb.-ins. and in output from 54-561 b.h.p„ with a drop in consumption from 0.62-0.58 pts. per b.h.p.-hr., and in oil temperature from 198-175 degrees F., all resulting from Redex.

There are five main ways of employing the preparation: adding to engine lubricating oil, introducing into gearbox and back axle, injecting into air intake, adding to petrol or oil fuel, and squirting into the distributor. These are some of its functions, as described in the manual; it activates engine oil and checks oxidation, it contains a carbon repellant, and it neutralizes corrosives.

In simple language, it would seem, that it enhances the efficiency of lubricating oil, rendering it less gummy when cold yet increasing the strength of the oil film, and that it tends to soften and remove carbon deposits and to penetrate everywhere possible, freeing sticking valves, gummed-up centrifugal ignition-control mechanism, etc.

One copy of the Redex Manual will he issued free to any operator applying who is a reader of this journal ; further copies can be obtained for Is. each.
