Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Mr. George Wingate, chairman of Halley Motors, Ltd., last week officially handed over to Glasgow Corporation three 110 b.h.p, six-cylinder fire-engines with l)rysdale pumps. Bailie James Stewart, convenor of the fire brigade and lighting sub-committee, accepted the machines on behalf of the local authority.

Warwick's Progressive Road Policy.

Rtporting on the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on Traffic Signs, Warwick county surveyor states that, for many years, wherever the council has been resurfacing or reconstructing roads, cambers have always been reduced and superelevation provided on curves. Generally speaking; he contends, little fault can now be found with the camber bn county roads, although there are many curves where there is need for superelevation.

Every effort has been made to provide safe surfaces and reports of skidding are comparatively few. From inquiries that the surveyor made some time ago from the chief constable, it appeared that very few accidents in the county were attributable to road surfaces. Light-coloured chippings have been used for many years.

A cettain amount of improvement has been effected to dangerous bridges and, whilst more could be done, most of the bridges which are still dangerous are, he remarks, privately owned by railway and canal companies.
