THE NATIONAL Bus Company's Western Region has hit out at Oxfordshire county council and accused it Of "mixing opinion with fact" in a recent council newsletter.
It says that the newsletter was more interesting because of what it omitted to say rather than what it actually said.
And it claims that the Oxfordshire transport debate is in danger of becoming overheated and spilling into the realms of fantasy.
"The Network" — a document circulated to county and district councillors and local MPs on behalf of City of Oxford Motor Services — outlines the company's obligation to break even financially.
And it argues against both Oxfordshire's _policy regarding bus grants, school contract work and private bus operators.
It claims that the company is not as remote as has been suggested by critics and lists company officers who "keep in close touch with local opinion."
The document is highly critical of private operators which it accuses of being able to run services more cheaply by using second-hand buses and part-time labour.
