Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BECAUSE of the increasing number a flour mills being equipped for receiving grain in bulk, particularly in the London area. Barnard Bros., Ltd., Newport, Essex, recently purchased an extra-large articulated hulkgrain carrier from the Eagle Engineering Co., Ltd., Warwick. It is used to transport grain from farms to the concern's premises and to mills, and also from the docks to farms.

On some occasions, malting barleys in separate consignments are also carried, and return loads often consist of feeding-stuffs, or fertilizers in bags. For this reason a tipping vehicle with a flat floor was specified in preference to the hopper-discharge type.

B42 Barnard's believe that the use of bulk-grain vehicles will progressively increase, as they provide a much quicker turn-round, simplify the work of the farmer and obviate sack-hire charges. Many farmers are, as yet, unable to deliver grain in bulk to the trunking vehicles.

The body of the semi-trailer is 21 ft. 6 in. long and 7 ft. wide, whilst 4-ft. sides are fitted to prevent spillage. The discharge chute at the rear has an adjustable door which gives a controlled flow and a metal grille enables trucks to be wheeled into the body. A canvas cover is attached to rope hooks on 12 detachable bows.

Eagle twin hydraulic rams tip the body to an angle of 450, tipping being controlled by a hinged stabilizer of channel section. Pipe connections to the tractor unit are quickly made, the

couplings being of the self-sealing type.

The chassis is of all-steel electrically' welded construction and is equipped with a Scammell undercarriage. The twin wheels are fitted with 9.00-in. by 20-in. tyres.

A Bedford 5-ton tractor is being used to tow the semi-trailer, but this will later be replaced by a Commer TS3 oil-engined tractor fitted with Scammell coupling gear.
