THREE new items have been added
by the Elms Garage, Rednal Road, West Heath, Birmingham, 31, to their range of Lightning time-saving equipment. The first is an ingenious form of hose clip consisting of a specially annealed threaded band which encircles the hose Securely attached to one endis an abutment piece against which bears a lipped washer. The tightening means is a rrut which screws on to the band. It is claimed that light finger pressure on the nut will ensure a leakproof joint. These clips are priced at Is. each.
For releasing ball joints and simplifying many other dismantling operations, the Lightning dual-tapered wedges are the answer. As the name suggests, these wedges are tapered in two directions so that when driven under the edge of
a collar the tendency is for the wedge to travel towards the centre instead of jumping out from the edge. The wedges sell for 7s. 6d. per pair.
Third on the list is a spring terminal clip for use on battery-charging cable. The bare end of the cable is twisted round that portion of the clip which encircles the battery post and the spring tension ensures a good electrical connection.
90 NEW VEHICLES FOR ASSAM
FIFTY oil-engined buses have been imported by Assam State Transport to go into operation in August on nationalized routes. Forty lorries with oil engines are to replace petrol-engined vehicles running on routes across the plains.
75 TITANS FOR BOMBAY
AN order valued at £200,000 for 75 Leyland Titan chassis with PneurnoCyclic gearboxes has just been placed by the Bombay Electric Supply and Transport undertaking. The organizatibn has called for Leyland bus chassis worth over £500,000 in just over a year.
