The "de luxe," hired for a private picnic party, was parked at the roadside and the driver was lending a hand with the luncheon baskets when the pretty girl asked would it be safe to leave her hat in the coach? As he came out of the wood he caught her powdering with the aid of the rear-view mirrot and she ran off blushing to rejoin her friends. The amused smile was wiped from his face when he found a deflated tyre with three fancy hat pins driven firmly into it. The repair was almost completed when the sweet young thing floated back ,again, and—" Oh! my hat pins! " she gasped. " I hope they're safe.They're rather precious and I stuck them into the fat part (!) of that wheel so's they shouldn't get lost."
