Besides a couple of ,traction engines, one a compound of 6 mh.p., and the other a single-cylinder of 7 n.h.p. Ransorries are also showing one of their 6-ton steam wagons, equipped with hydraulic tipping gear, and a special new model 5-ton all-steel trailer.
The Ransome steam wagon is an overty-pe, and embodies several distinctive features, in particular the simple an strongly designed. Ackerman steering gear, the ingenious method of supporting the boiler in the frame, allowing freedom for expansion and the disposal of the engine flywheels inside the crankcase.
The trailer is entirely new, Its frame is built of rolledsteel channel, while the fore carriage, which is also of steel, is so designed that its bolster plates relieve the perch bolt of all shearing stresses. The rubber-tyred wheels are disc steel, running on phosphor-bronze floating bushes, with ample provision for lubrication. The brakes are external-contract• ing, and are compensated.
