Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Steam and I.C. Ploughing Engines, Rollers.

McLaren's patent oil motor windlass, for ploughing on the, cable system, has not greatly altered and, if at all, it is in detail only. It. embodies a 60-70. h.p petrol engine, driving a vertical winding drum through a.train of gears. The.rope from the drum is guided over a horizontal pulley mounted on a spindle below the frame, So that the pull on the machine is as low as possible. An interesting feature on this machine is the ingenious method of guiding the rope on and off the main winding drum, so that it laps the, drumevenly, without one coil mounting its fellow before the row is complete. There is a secondary drum on the same shaft as the Main one, and in the fape of the rim of this drum is -cut a deep spiral thread. A block onthe end of a lever engages the thread, causing the lever to swing in a:horizontal plane. On the opposite end of the lever are mounted jockey pulleys, which guide the rope in to the drum.

Other exhibits on this stand include a, steam-ploughing engine, a compound steam tractor, a 10-ton road roller, and several ingenious little pumps, useful when washing out the boilers of traction and portable engines, steam wagons, and the like.
