Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

If Iveco's Massif looks vaguely like a Land Rover Defender, then that probably should not come as too much of a shock. It is produced in Spain by one-time Land Rover assembler Santana, and is the closest thing to a Defender rival you'll see.

Equipped with a selectable 4x4 system, it boasts one of the best diesel engines you are likely to stumble across. it makes Massif difficult to beat when the off-road going gets rough.

Ample torque plus good suspension articulation mean that deep ruts and tracks strewn with big boulders hold few terrors.

While the performance offered by the engines brings benefits when you are on ordinary roads, this is offset by vague steering and a heavy clutch pedal. Nor is Massif's interior tnrn and general finish anything to get excited about.

If you're looking for a heavy-duty off-roader, though, and you don't fancy another Defender even the latest version then Massif could be a handy alternative. Sadly, though, UK buyers must wait until at least the autumn.
