A tough little workhorse with a cargo capacity of well over a tonne, it is powered by one of the best common-rail diesels in the business and has plenty of torque on tap.
Dyna's big drawback, however, is its cab. 11 is simply not big enough to accommodate the typical British brickie or builder's labourer, and one suspects that sales are suffering as a consequence.
At least Its compact dimensions mean the Dyna can get into gaps that would defeat others, and the attractively-styled cab is quite well equipped. Unfortunately, the solidly built Dyne also suffers from a poor ride, imprecise steering that does the handling no favours, and too much engine noise.
Similar to Hiace, Dyna needs further development to keep pace with the pack leaders. Toyota could do worse than take a look at what Nissan has done with its Cabstar; and take a few notes while it does so.
