SCAMMELL, the specialist and military vehicle-building division of Leyland Vehicles, has won a £25m contract for tank transporters from the Ministry of Defence.

The number of transporters required for the contract is not yet known, but they are due for delivery over the next three years.

Scammell's plant at Watford, Herts, currently employs a workforce of 770. Although the new order will not mean more jobs, it will help secure the future of the employees.
