Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

two days' driving in each week—the rest of the time they do other jobs, but don't drive on the road.

As I see it, according to the regulations, they cannot book any more than 60 paid on-duty hours during that week, though they may have done only 10 or 20 hours on the road driving. They cannot, for instance, book 70 hours for overtime on other nondriving jobs.

In other words, one day driving, and that driver is a driver for the week, regulated to maximum of 60 hours' work whatever job he does. Is this correct?

AYou are quite right in your assumption

that if a driver drives on one day only he is then restricted to a maximum of 60 hours on-duty for that working week. Only if the total period of driving does not exceed four hours on the days that he drives in that week will he be exempt from the other requirements regarding on-duty and rest periods.
