Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

staff required to service and maintain a fleet of 150 vehicles including flats, tankers and a 10cwt van?

A It is difficult to state an exact figure of the

appropriate number of staff required to maintain effectively a given fleet of vehicles. A great deal depends on the facilities available and the work on which the vehicles are employed, whether this is arduous or if doublemanning systems are in operation.

A figure of one fitter for eight to 10 vehicles may be considered reasonable but in your case this does not necessarily mean that you would need, say, 15 highly skilled fitters. A team with a highly skilled man as foreman or supervisor ranging downwards with a number of good qualified men, perhaps a specialist electrician and a body repair man, a greaser and possibly an apprentice or young lad would provide a good selection of the right sort of people for the right task. A vehicle inspector is also a consideration which should not be forgotten.
