AWIGAN haulier admitted, at
Preston. last week, that he had been carrying traffic not specified on his normal user for two years. Mr. A. H. Jolliffe. North Western Deputy Licensing Authority, was told that the A licence for four vehicles owned by Mr. J. R. Entwistle had a *normal user of " mainly furniture and household foods," but that they had been used for a variety of work, These vehicles, with six others on special-A licence, were the subject of an application for a new A licence, said Mr. J. A. Dunkerley, for Mr. Entwistle.
It was explained that one 3-ton unit would be replaced by a 5-tanner, but that no extra carrying capacity would result as a heavier chassis would be used. The application for an extra maintenance vehicle was withdrawn.
A common normal user for all 10 vehicles, to allow interchangeability, was sought, and the application was granted with a normal user of " general goods, Lancashire, Scotland, London, the south coast and South Wales."
Mr. Jolliffe made no comment on the departure from normal user.
