AN appeal to cattle hauliers to consider the need for artificial lighting in cattle trucks was made on Wednesday by Mr. T. Hall, chief secretary of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He said that even where the roof ivas translucent, artificial light was desirable if loading had to be undertaken after dark. .
The object of his appeal was to promote the welfare of animals, bur he was convinced that the provision of adequate lighting inside cattle.. trucks would be also in the interests of ihe operators. He thought it wouldsaveboth time and cost in handling animals.
