The new regulations allow a country to impose a penalty on a driver or employer for an infringement detected on its territory — even if the offence was actually committed elsewhere. To prevent further penalties being imposed for the same offence, enforcement officers must give you written evidence of the penalty. This must be carried for 22 days. From January next year, this goes up to 29 days. •
