Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• With the transport of dangerous goods covering such a broad spread of materials, it is hard to pin down the size of the sector, although it probably accounts for something like 10% of all haulage. One estimate suggests that 12% of goods moved across Europe are classified as hazardous; if we accept that these figures should more or less be applicable specifically to this country, that means something like 50,000 trucks will be involved in the sector in the UK at any one time. Another rough figure can be gleaned from the FTA: it has 12,000 members, of which 900 are involved in hazgoocts, giving a total involvement of less than 10%.
