Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Owner-drivers waiting to be paid by big freight hauliers might be surprised to learn that they have one of the best credit records in British Industry— according to a new commercial credit rating system from Equifax Europe.

Of the top freight companies, 72% scored average or good," says sales director John McAndrew. "An excellent performance when compared with other areas of British Industry." McAndrew says the figures suggest larger hauliers operate good business practices. But by contrast, he adds, those that are below average tend to be well below average.

"Two thirds of them rated 'very poor'. The vast majority of freight companies, however, would he considered a good credit risk in the eyes of lenders," he says.

Information about individual companies is now available online through Equifax's credit rating service. It also includes information on company directors where appropriate.

Each enquiry to the system costs between £12 and £.27, depending on the level of detail required. Contact 0171 298 3000.
